'Private' NHS centre is opened

A privately run NHS treatment centre was officially opened on Tyneside yesterday.

Run by Capio, a Swedish health care provider, it is expected to treat 10,000 patients over the next five years. The aim of the Cobalt NHS Treatment Centre is to reduce costs, waiting lists, and increase choice and convenience for patients.
